His projected self is little more than a pretty face and a pleasant voice, with dose of gregarious charm thrown in.Underneath this armor of congeniality, Valoren is still discovering himself with the aid of his husband, Apollo. He can be cruel, though his conscience is growing on him like mold, and he can be a mischievous goofball around the right people. However, it takes a lot to get him to let down the mask.

After being accused of murdering his sister, Valoren went on the run from Ishgard, the place he'd called home for most of his life. He made it all the way to Idyllshire before an aetheryte malfunction - and a little bit of fate - sent him unexpectedly to Old Sharlayan. There, he fell onto a man named Apollo, fell into that man's life, and fell thoroughly in love.Apollo introduced him to his employer, Killhare. Well versed in the ways of fighting using dynamis rather than aether, Killhare agreed to mentor Valoren in becoming a dark knight. It wasn't until some time later that they discovered Killhare had come from the same Rava village, Caerbannog, as Valoren's mother. Valoren has come to consider her and the other Caerbannog siblings to be his extended family.When Valoren returned to Ishgard, it was with new power, new allies, and a cursed sword newly inherited from his mother. In addition to running his tavern, the Rose & Portent, Valoren has taken up adventuring with a group of mercenaries informally known as the Gladius Coalition. Stumbling into a coffee shop ran by an eccentric acting troupe led Valoren to join the Obsidian Blades, and take to the stage once more. He can also be found working as a host at the Corsair, helping as a barista at the Bookmark, or guiding others to the Cathedral of Kain.
